Harris Corporation has developed a wireless haptic manipulation system that utilizes ATI Industrial Automation’s Mini45 Multi-Axis Force/Torque Sensor. Primarily designed for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), the system enables operators to feel remote objects through end-of-arm force sensing and a haptic controller. Mounted on the wrist of the robot arm, ATI's Sensor delivers tactile feedback over Harris' wireless communication system to the operator, making it possible to perform complex, dexterous remote manipulation tasks.
ATI’s Mini45 Force/Torque Sensor System measures six components of force and torque (Fx, Fy, Fz, Tx, Ty, Tz) and features a compact design, hardened stainless steel construction, overload protection, temperature compensation and high signal-to-noise ratio. ATI offers a wide selection of models used throughout industry for product testing, robotic assembly, grinding and polishing,
robotic surgery, rehabilitation, neurology and many other
applications.
