ATI Develops EtherCAT F/T Sensor

Six-Axis Force/Torque Sensor for EtherCAT Fieldbus

Apex, NC,  janeiro 15, 2015

The EtherCAT Force/Torque (F/T) Sensor System from ATI Industrial Automation measures six components of force and torque (Fx, Fy, Fz, Tx, Ty, Tz) and seamlessly streams data to devices that use EtherCAT fieldbus. Integrated signal conditioning, data acquisition, and a 1-port EtherCAT interface are all contained in the sensor. The EtherCAT F/T also supports Power-over-Ethernet and only requires one 4-pin, M12 connector for EtherCAT and power. No additional interface box is needed. EtherCAT F/T provides resolved force and torque data with an update rate of 1kHz and features a digital low-pass filter which is adjustable over EtherCAT, along with programmable tool transformations. All calibrations are stored in the transducer. One of the 16 different calibrations can be selected via EtherCAT. EtherCAT F/T has a max power consumption of 3W and runs off 20VDC to 48VDC or PoE.

EtherCAT is a native fieldbus on many robots and often comes at no extra cost. EtherCAT F/T is available for ATI transducer models Delta IP60 and lP65 and larger. Also available as an OEM interface option, the ECATOEM interface board was designed to be integrated into small robot arms. ECATOEM is compatible with all ATI TW model transducers with an EC8 connector option.

All of ATI’s Force/Torque Sensors feature a compact design, hardened stainless steel construction, high-speed output, overload protection, span temperature compensation options, and high signal-to-noise ratio. ATI offers a wide range of custom and standard sensor models from 17 mm to 330 mm and include environmental protection (IP) on most models. With over 25 years of robotic end-effector innovation, ATI’s engineering department, the largest of its kind for a robotic tooling company, is focused on developing cost-effective, state-of-the-art products and solutions.
