ATI Industrial Automation has developed, in collaboration with COGEMA and CEA, a series of Six-Axis Force/Torque Sensors that allow users to measure forces and torques in highly-radioactive environments. Featuring radiation hardness better than 10kGy and 13 mm through-holes, the DeltaRad and ThetaRad Sensors can be used in radiation-hardened robotic systems to safely carry out high-precision tasks. The Sensors can enable applications, such as the remote handling of hazardous radioactive materials, offering users a safe solution to carry out preventive or corrective maintenance, clean-up, or dismantling. ATI's Sensors deliver tactile feedback and could enable operators to sense remote objects, making it possible to perform complex, dexterous remote manipulation tasks.
ATI’s Force/Torque Sensor System measures six components of force and torque (Fx, Fy, Fz, Tx, Ty, Tz) and features a compact design, hardened stainless steel construction, high-speed output, overload protection, span temperature compensation options, and high signal-to-noise ratio. ATI offers a wide range of standard non-radiation hardened sensor models from 17 mm to 300 mm and include environmental protection (IP) on most models.
