The cover picture shows an ATI Six-Axis Force/Torque Sensor enabling an ABB robot, using force control, to precisely insert a piston into the cylinder of an engine block. The article covers the basics of ATI's Force/Torque Sensors and some considerations when selecting a sensor for your application.
