Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Apex, NC
Job Description
- Complete electronic designs for tool changer control modules and force torque sensors, involving embedded systems, fieldbus interfaces, low noise strain gage amplifiers, A/D and D/A converters and DCDC converters.
- Responsibilities:
- Implement ECOs for electronic assemblies and PCBs
- Check the electrical portion of electromechanical drawings
- Prepare PCB documentation packages for release
- Orcad schematics entry and component selection
- Address manufacturing questions and requests (component replacements, documentation issues, etc.)
- Investigate and resolve technical problems involving product performance
- Work with component suppliers, manufacturers, outside labs and other service providers as needed to assure the most cost effective, robust designs are implemented.
- Support and troubleshoot current electronic designs
- Develop improvements in current electronics.
- Write manufacturing and inspection instructions, specification sheets and technical reports for new and existing products.
- Lead product development projects from the feasibility phase to manufacturing launch
- Write project and product requirements specifications
- Support the assembly of prototypes by providing documentation and assistance to ensure high quality prototypes are built in a timely manner.
- Develop and execute hardware engineering design test plans per requirements specifications to ensure prototypes meet design requirements.
- Develop project documentation in accordance with quality and change management procedures and guidelines to ensure project information is properly organized and archived.
- Conduct design reviews and DFMEAs. Participate in DVP&Rs
- Continue to learn new skills and techniques through in-house training, outside training/coursework, seminars, trade shows and appropriate use of the internet and participate in the training of other members of the engineering team in these skills
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Requirements
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Must have demonstrated proficiency in schematic entry using Orcad Capture or a similar tool
- Should be familiar with
- Analog components and circuits, required for the precision measurement of low voltages
- Embedded systems hardware
- Embedded firmware using assembler and C/C++
- Linear regulators and DC/DC power converters
- Serial bus networks (CAN, RS485, Ethernet)
- Experience with PCB layout design
- Experience /Skills with Python or a similar programming language would be a plus
Education Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent would be a plus
