On Thursday, May 9th, 2019, ATI Industrial Automation hosted the first ever Automation Expo at the company’s Apex, NC headquarters. The location has undergone five expansions over the years, with the company breaking ground on the most recent in 2017. The 68,000 square foot new facility is home to ATI’s engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, IT, planning, and production teams with room for an additional 200 new hires.

ATI experienced rapid growth in its number of employees, and will enjoy increased capacity in the new facility as well. ATI’s latest space includes a high-tech design verification lab, a dedicated material removal product testing lab, and additional manufacturing space all intended for the development and distribution of even more cutting-edge robotic products.

The company sees this latest facility upgrade as a necessary step in supporting its customers. According to CEO Robert Little, “We want to make the absolute best robotic end-effectors to help our customers accomplish more with automation. In order to do that, we need a state-of-the-art facility to design, test, and manufacture innovative robotic solutions, which is exactly what we have here in Apex, NC. Our commitment to excellence, to our customers, drives us forward. It is a joy to open the doors of our brand new facility to some of the very people that helped make it possible.”

The special celebration of automation spanned two days and included a myriad of professional and networking events. On Wednesday May 8, attendees had the option to explore ATI’s Apex facilities on a guided tour and participate in detailed training sessions on the company’s most widely-used products.

Thursday May 9, ATI welcomed hundreds of customers for compelling presentations from industry experts like Mick Estes from FANUC America, Melonee Wise from Fetch Robotics, and Jürgen von Hollen from Universal Robots. Attendees experienced live robotic demonstrations and tabletop displays from ABB Robotics, KUKA Robotics, 3M, Association for Advancing Automation (A3), Kawasaki Robotics, OTC Daihen, Yaskawa Motoman, SCHUNK, and other distinguished ATI partners. The day ended with beverages and hors d’ oeuvres on ATI’s beautiful rooftop patio.
