ATI Industrial Automation has developed a new Small Tool Stand mounting option that secures the tooling in place after the robot uncouples from the Tool Changer. It includes a steel machined block with a rigid "V" shaped groove and center hole that interfaces with the tool interface plate. The assembly includes mounting hardware and is designed to mount to any horizontal extruded rail, such as the TSM-HM series rails. The Mounting Block can also be mounted directly to any custom plate designed by the customer. The assembly also features a reverse single-acting locking air cylinder. Supplying air pressure to the cylinder unlocks the Mounting Block, releasing the tool from the V-block. After the robot uncouples from the Tool Changer and removes air pressure from the locking cylinder, the tool is fully secured in the stand.

This locking feature is ideal for applications that require non-horizontal tool storage, have offset tool center-of-gravity, and applications where tooling hoses and cables work against the weight of the tool during normal tool storage situations. The Locking Tool Stand Mounting Block also features options for tool presence sensing and cylinder lock sensing.
