Measuring only 17 mm in diameter and weighing only 9 grams, ATI Industrial Automation’s Nano17 is the smallest commercially-available six-axis force/torque sensor in the world. The Nano17 has allowed researchers to investigate forces and torques in applications thought to be too small for a six-axis sensor. The Nano17 is made of hardened stainless steel, with integrated interface plates made from high-strength aircraft aluminum. For measurements in highly magnetic environments, the Nano17 is also available in non-ferrous grade 5 titanium. Despite its small size, the Nano17 is extremely durable, with maximum allowable single-axis overload values that are 3.1 to 13.8 times rated capacities. Key features include: High speed output, span temperature compensation, and high signal-to-noise ratio. Some typical applications for the Nano17 include haptics, robotic hand research, robotic surgery, finger-force research, and product testing. ATI offers a wide range of sensor models from 17 mm to 300 mm and include environmental protection (IP) on most models.
