ATI Develops New Series of Single-Axis Compliant Deburring Tools
Apex, NC , May 15, 2015
ATI has developed a new series of Single-Axis Compliant Deburring Tools. The RS-151, RS-340, and RS-660-ER models provide radial, single-axis compliance allowing the spindle and cutter to pivot in one plane about a single-axis to provide high stiffness parallel to (and excellent compliance perpendicular to) the direction of motion resulting in exceptional surface finishes.

All ATI Compliant Deburring Tools feature a robust, high-speed and light-weight air turbine-driven deburring unit for deburring aluminum, plastic, steel, and similar materials with a robot. They are especially suited for removal of parting lines and flash from cast and molded parts. However, the flexible design also allows it to be used in a wide variety of applications such as edge deburring on machined parts. ATI's Compliant Deburring Tools also feature a pneumatically-controlled, articulated design that allows the cutting bit to follow the part profile and compensate for surface irregularities, allowing high feed rates and uniform quality. Compliance is created by air pressure applied to the spindle of the unit and allows consistent deburring of irregular part patterns. The motor's internal governor maintains high spindle speeds for optimum surface finish.

Designed for removal of parting lines and flash: ATI's Compliant Deburring Tools are particularly adept at flash and parting line removal and can also perform edge deburring. The Deburring Tool’s flexible design allows the tool to perform a variety of deburring tasks. This units features Radial, single-axis compliance: The spindle and cutter pivot in one plane about a single-axis to provide high stiffness parallel to (and excellent compliance perpendicular to) the direction of motion resulting in exceptional surface finishes. Equipped with a quiet turbine motor: Quiet air motor (less than 70 dbA) utilizes clean air (no oil). Exhaust air can be vented to atmosphere without reclamation. Flexible mounting options: ATI Compliant Deburring Tools can be mounted to a robot, bench, or fixture from the side or rear.
