ROBOTIC WELD BEAD REMOVAL WITH ATI’S FORCE/TORQUE SENSORS
Sponsored by the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute (ARM), a group of engineers at The Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon discovered a way to tackle two of these challenging material removal operations in one solution. ATI UTILITY COUPLERS HELP KTH ELIMINATE EQUIPMENT FAILURES
There is no better way to resolve a problem than eliminating it entirely. At KTH Parts Industries Inc., automating a manual equipment changeover process using ATI’s Utility Couplers accomplished that very feat. To increase flexibility and optimize limited manufacturing floor space, KTH created a dual-sided work cell with a turntable. The new process eliminates roughly 65 hours per year of downtime per line, reduces the total cost of operations, and increases equipment utilization and productivity.
